30 Days : 7

Zuzu, The Wonder Dog, is doing amazingly well... the pain meds knock her out (as you can see here - laying with her sis) but she's getting around a lot, she hung out in the snow for awhile today and is coming to life enough to bark at her friend the mailman.

Our oldest daughter returned to school today and was anxious for the "morning sharings" so she could tell her friends what had happened. I imagine it'll be therapeutic for her to talk about it with her peers (which range in age from 4 to 14).

30 Days : 6

A bittersweet homecoming...

Thank you all for your kind words. It helped get us through a rough few days.

Zu arrived home Saturday morning. It was really hard to see her struggle. She "cried" to us for 30 minutes and continued the crying every time someone would visit - I imagine she was letting out all of her trauma. It took the girls 30 minutes to come downstairs and see her but we didn't push it and they came when they were ready. They did amazingly well, lavishing her with love, despite Zu's scar staring them in the face.

It is now Monday and things are slowly getting back to normal. Dave went off to work, Zuzu is getting up more and more - she actually tried to "play" in the snow today when I took her out to pee. The girls are still recovering from the weekend and have had several meltdowns which I know are related. My mom is spending the week which is so helpful. I feel blessed.

Today we are all feeling a little bit stronger. I get inspiration here and here.

Our puppy, Zuzu, was hit by a car in front of our house last night. She will live but will lose one of her front legs. We are all devastated. I can't erase the image from my mind. I can't sleep. I miss her. I wish I could go back in time and change the course of our day... why did this have to happen to her?
