This weekend was spent decompressing from a busy week. E has been attending a free school for a couple of weeks now and we are still trying to settle into some kind of routine based around that. We are not used to spending so much time apart, despite the fact that the school day is only 5 hours. She is having fun, however, and getting her social needs met. She is the extrovert that I am not.
What better way to reconnect with the family than to go apple picking? And, the girls were delighted to see some turkeys had been added to the orchard's small petting zoo. The upcoming week weeks will be spent looking for recipes for all things apple.
PS- HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!!! I miss you!

I thought it might be interesting to you that my dad started a free school in 1982; it was my first school experience. It was very hard for him to run it, alone, without charging exorbitant tuition, though, and he closed it when I was 6. After that my parents kept me and my younger siblings home where we were *completely* unschooled. Anyway, I might be one of your few readers to have already known what a free school was without having to click on the wikipedia link! lol.
